Online Graduate Students

Admission Requirements

To apply to an online graduate program:

  1. Complete the free online application.
  2. Submit your transcripts.
  3. Review program-specific application requirements.

No GMAT or GRE required for admission to Loyola Online graduate programs!

Dual MBA and Master of Criminology and Justice applicants will be required to submit the following:

  1. An essay (750-1,000 words) addressing one of the following prompts:
    • What do you think causes crime? Why?
    • What do you think is the most important part of the criminal justice system? Why?
    • What do you think is the most pressing issue to address in criminology and criminal justice? Why?
  2. Resume (1-2 pages)
  3. An official GMAT or GRE score report is not required.
  4. Two letters of recommendation.

Statement of Purpose Guidelines

Your statement of purpose will enable the Admissions Committee to understand your reasons for applying to the Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM) and your ability to benefit from our programs. Your statement should be 600-1,200 words and double-spaced (approximately 3 pages). It should reflect your understanding of how LIM can help you grow in a current or future ministry, or, for those who do not now consider themselves to be in ministry, help you explore faith and its implications for the Church and world today.

Please state as clearly as possible your reasons for seeking your program and degree level. You may include any additional information about yourself that you believe would assist the Admission Committee in evaluating your work, academic, and ministerial background, as well as information that will aid the committee in assessing your ability to engage in this online, graduate-level ministry education program. Please also elaborate on your experience with online learning and your willingness to engage professionally and pastorally in group learning.

Applicants to the Dual Degree Master of Pastoral Studies and Master of Criminology & Justice program will be required to submit the following:

    • How do you think a Master of Music Therapy will enhance your academic and/or professional career?
    • What do you hope to gain by being a part of Loyola's Master of Music Therapy program?
    • What do you bring to the Music Therapy program at Loyola?
  2. Two letters of recommendation.
  3. Applicants should submit video recordings of themselves:
    • Performing (1-2 pieces/songs) on their primary instrument/voice – classical or jazz styles.
    • **Singing and self-accompanying (1-2 songs) on both guitar and piano – a popular tune, jazz standard, folk song, etc.

Please note: A bachelor's degree in music therapy is required for admission to the Master of Music Therapy program. 

**Proficiency with singing and self-accompanying on guitar and piano is not required for admission. However, if the applicant is unable to demonstrate proficiency in their video audition, they may be required to take remedial courses in guitar/piano.

Official Transcripts

Applicants must submit official transcripts from all previously attended postsecondary institutions. Application decisions can be made based on unofficial transcripts; however, official transcripts are required before acceptance is official.
